How to protect confidential data in SimaPro?

Updated over 2 months ago

If you are working with confidential information and you wish to protect your data, SimaPro desktop offers several options to do so:

  • On the process/assembly level: individual inventory results can be saved as a system (results) process. This allows you to create aggregated results in which for example confidential data are included. You can check this page for further instructions on how to create a system-level process.

  • On the user level (only available in the Multi-user license): using this feature, the Manager can define what projects/libraries each user can access and what their rights are (read, write, delete). The manager can edit these settings via the user management options. Please refer to this article for further explanation about user management.

  • Using protection level (only available in the Developer license): this option allows you to protect confidential data libraries or projects with a password in different levels of protection. This protection will become active only if you export the project/library as a SimaPro database. For more info, go to Help > SimaPro Help. Under the Contents tab, go to SimaPro databases > Protecting your confidential data.

With the SimaPro online platform, you can also protect your projects by hiding them. More info on how to hide/unhide your SimaPro Flow project can be found on this page.
