The library switch is a feature in SimaPro Synergy which makes it easy to change links in a model from one data library version to a more recent one. For example, you can use the library switch to update links in your model from ecoinvent 3.10 Cut-off to ecoinvent 3.11 Cut-off or ecoinvent 3.9.1 Cut-off. Please note that if you want to go from 3.9.1 to 3.11 you need to switch from 3.9.1 to 3.10 first, then from 3.10 to 3.11.
To switch libraries, follow these steps:
Go to the relevant model or create a new one, in which you want to change libraries.
Go to the Selected library sources on the model dashboard.
Click Switch library for the library you would like to change from.
Choose the library you would like to change to. Then a list of processes will appear, in this list you need to select the relevant processes for your model. There are three types of matches:
Direct match is shown if there is a process which is directly related to the old process. The new related process will automatically be chosen. It is still possible to change the process to which it will be switched. To do this:
Open the drop-down list next to the relevant process.
Click Select other process.
Then, filter for the process you want to switch to, and click Select.
Close match are processes with several possible matches, or matches which have been chosen earlier and are 'remembered' for this process. It is advised to look through these choices and select the most relevant process.
No match means that you need to choose the new process yourself. These choices will be remembered if you have to switch this exact process another time.
After choosing the processes, click Continue. Please note that you can only continue if matches have been selected for all processes (otherwise the button will be grayed out).
A summary of the matches will be shown, click Continue again.
The Library Switch is now complete, click Done.
Please note! Only libraries with the same product libraries can be switched (e.g. ecoinvent libraries). Keep in mind that switching between libraries with different calculation methods (such as from ecoinvent 3.11 Cut-off to ecoinvent 3.11 Consequential) is not possible at the moment.
