Parameterized scenario analysis lets you test alternative values for a calculation without changing the model's default values. Change a value directly within a scenario, or save up to five named scenarios and select up to two to calculate and compare side by side.
Before you start
Only parameters marked as configurable on the parameters page are available here. If a parameter you need isn't listed, mark it as configurable on the parameters page first. This doesn't affect any existing calculations.
Scenarios are saved in the model or primary data library, so the same five scenarios appear in every calculation setup there.
Set parameter values for a calculation
Open a calculation setup and expand Parameterized scenario analysis. The section stays disabled until the setup is saved.
Each row shows a configurable parameter and its default value from the model.
Values can only be edited within a parameter scenario, not directly under Default value. That column is read-only.
Create scenarios
Select Add scenario. You can save up to five scenarios; the button disables once five exist.
Each new scenario starts pre-filled with the current default values, under an auto-generated name ("Scenario 1", "Scenario 2", and so on).
Rename a scenario by selecting its name in the column header. Each name must be unique, and "Default value" is reserved.
To delete a scenario, use the menu (⋮) next to its name. Deletion is permanent.
Enter a different value directly under the default within that scenario's column to change it. Values you haven't changed stay grayed out and match the default; changed values appear in bold. Clear a cell to go back to the default.
Select scenarios and calculate
Each scenario, including Default value, has a checkbox above its column. At least one must stay selected, and at most two can be selected at a time.
Default value is selected to begin with, so the button reads Calculate until you select your first scenario, which switches it to Compare.
Select the button to run the calculation. With two columns selected, results for both appear side by side, so you can compare environmental performance without switching between calculations.
Good to know
Parameter scenarios don't change the model or primary data library. They only affect the calculation results when selected.
You can save up to five scenarios, but only compare two at a time.
Only parameters explicitly marked as configurable can be adjusted this way. This keeps the rest of the data protected from accidental changes.
